Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and community-builder based in Brooklyn, New York. The daughter of Thai and Indonesian immigrants, she draws on early training in neuroscience at Columbia University and formal design education to inform her practice. Working across sculpture, textiles, painting, installation, and public art, she creates liminal spaces of ritual, healing, transformation, and belonging for marginalized communities.
A 2024 Artadia Award recipient and 2023 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow, her work has been exhibited in major institutional and public contexts, from large-scale murals and installations to public art campaigns addressing AAPI identity, anti-Asian violence, and collective ritual. THAT Co. featured Phingbodhipakkiya in 2025, as part of our artist-spotlight series. Currently, her participatory installation, Tender Commons, is up at MoMA until March 15, 2026.
