Artist Info

Hyegyeong Choi is a painter whose work explores the interplay of lush figuration, color-laden surfaces, and psychological landscapes. She earned a BFA from Chung Ang University in Seoul and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her paintings frequently depict voluptuous female figures in luxuriant, at times surreal, natural settings, addressing themes of identity, body image, desire, vulnerability, and cultural signifiers.

THAT Co. featured Choi in 2022. Since then, she has continued to exhibit both in the US and abroad, including solos at Harper’s Gallery in New York, Carl Kostyál in London, and Brigitte Mulholland in Paris. Her work has gained heightened critical attention as she explores how memory, gender, and cultural hybridity manifest through figural painting.
