Joeun Kim Aatchim is a New York City–based artist who received a BFA from New York University (2014) and MFA from Columbia University (2017). Her practice unfolds across drawing, painting on silk, installation, printmaking, and audio-video essays, exploring the notion of “transparency of vision and voice” in relation to womanhood, memory, language, migration, and corporeal difference. She draws from her personal experience of stereoblindness and her Korean heritage (her grandmother was a silk merchant).
Notable exhibitions include solos at François Ghebaly, New York in 2022 and 2023, Taipei Biennale 2025, and duo presentation at Travesía Cuatro Madrid in 2025. THAT Co. featured Aatchim in 2021.
