Liao Wen is a sculptor, performer, and video artist based in Hong Kong. She earned her BFA from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (2016) and MFA/MA in Experimental Art from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (2019). Her practice focuses on humanoid sculpture crafted from carved wood, resin, and other materials, drawing on her early training in puppetry and marionette mechanisms. Her work explores the body as vessel, joint, and threshold—balancing between fragility and resilience, human and non-human, domestic ritual and mythic apparatus.
Liao has exhibited extensively, including solo presentations at MACA Art Center, Beijing; Capsule, Venice and Shanghai; and Cai Jin Space, Beijing. She has also participated in prominent group exhibitions including BOOMERANG-OCAT Biennale 2021, Shenzhen; 2nd Women Artists International Biennial of Macao; and presentations at Guangdong Times Museum.
