Melissa Joseph is a New York-based artist whose work engages richly textured fiber-painting techniques—including needle-felting, wool, recycled sari silk, and felt panels—to explore memory, family history, domestic life, and diasporic identity. She renders intimate, everyday scenes—friends embracing, cooking, resting—as large-scale compositions that reflect both craft traditions and contemporary public art.
Joseph has exhibited extensively including at Rockefeller Center as part of Art Production Fund Art in Focus; ICA San Francisco; Brooklyn Museum; Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington; Liste Art Fair; and Art Basel Miami. She has received honors including THE EDEN Artists Now Award, UOVO Prize from the Brooklyn Museum, and Artsy Vanguard. THAT Co. featured Joseph in 2022.
